When the bars are too loud and the steam room is closed for repairs, the easiest thing to do is open your laptop. The surge of online hookup sites allows the convenience of finding Mr. Right—or Mr. Latin Nine Inches or Mr. Water Sports—from your own bed. From friend to fuck buddy, from bondage to vanilla, these sites provide a man du jour at any time.

Friendship/ Networking

…Because conversations don’t have to take place only after sex.

Strictly professional: GLEE.com (Gay Lesbian and Everyone Else). This site avoids premium memberships or any sexual components in favor of social and business networking. Think of it as a gay Friendster, but with fewer creepy old men and more lesbians.

Little flirt: Connexion.com Sure, there are guys looking for dates, but the lack of full nudity and absence of the “Inches” and “Top or Bottom” categories relegate this site to those interested in making new friends and networking.

Rowdy youngster: DList.com Similar to MySpace, this site sports full-page profiles with music and bulletins. Leave notes for cute guys, connect with friends, and upload dirty pics just in case. This site is focused on social networking with a very sexy flavor.

Dating

…Because deep down most of us want love. Too bad it doesn’t come cheap.

The unavoidable: Gay.com Who hasn’t at least stopped by to take a look? The powerhouse of gay dating, basic searches are free, but the good stuff comes with a membership. The popularity of the site stacks the odds in favor of finding someone decent.

Attention getter: Chemistry.com This site won our hearts with its smart and impossible-to-miss commercial attacks on the gay-excluding eHarmony.com. Owned by and based on Match.com, it’s got the same components but with more of a rebel edge. Oh, and it includes straight people.

Matchmaker: MyPartner.com A newbie to the online scene but quickly growing, this gay-only site is a modern twist on old-school matchmaking. You make a profile, and they work to find you a soul mate—or at least a Saturday night away from DVR.

Hookups

…Because who the hell doesn’t?

Old faithful: ManHunt.net The Coca-Cola of gay hookup sites, its simple formula proves irresistible. With more than 1 million members, logging on and getting off has never been easier. Great for travelers.

Local rainbow: Adam4Adam. Free memberships and escort ads attract guys looking for freebies or sex for pay. Similar rules (locked pics, profile stats, etc.) as ManHunt.net but with more ethnic diversity and a busier Website design.

International flavor: OhLaLaGuys.com On this site, based on the delicious OhLaLaParis blog, men from every corner of the globe fill out extremely detailed questionnaires of who they are and whom they want, even if it’s a workout or travel partner. But the first thing you see is still “Age,” “Build,” and “Sexual Role.”
